Garden Tour Blog Hop with JustRite

Welcome to the JustRite Garden Tour Blog Hop.  I’m thrilled to be a guest with the JustRite design team featuring the new garden sets coming out this month. My blog has been down and I’m a little late in joining, but better late than never  .   .   .  right!!

Isn’t this picture spectacular!  I love the luminous glow of the flowers, don’t they look so real! I feel as if I could just reach out and touch them and smell their wonderful fragrance.

I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for Spring and the beautiful flowers it brings!!  JustRite is releasing five sets that I’m so in love with, My Garden, Plant A Little Love, Seeds of Kindness, Romantic Sentiments, and Loving Thoughts.  The sentiment stamps are already available and are in my store, A Touch of Grace – Paper Boutique.  The three floral sets will be available January 20 and I’m excited to share that I’ll also be offering them in my store.  If you’re interested, please e-mail me by clicking on the tab on the left side bar entitled “E-mail Me” and I’ll reserve a set for you.  I plan on designing a lot of designs with these sets and hope to inspire you as well.

Today I’m featuring a stamp from the Plant A Little Love set.  The flowers are wild prairie roses.  I couldn’t resist the wild roses, they’re one of my favorite flowers. I used the EH 1824 Open Passe Partout stencil in this design.  I’ll be back later in the week with more designs I’m working on with this stamp set.  I watercolored the flowers on the Carnation White embossing paper available in my store.  You can imagine my surprise to discover just how versatile this paper is! Colored pencils look like oil paintings when rendered on this gorgeous paper, the texture is stunning!

In this picture you can see the full range of the side panel I created by stamping the image four times on Carnation White embossing paper with Gold Encore ink.  I sprinkled Ranger Gold Fine Embossing Powder on the stamped image and heated it with my Milwaukee heating tool to set the embossing powder.  I watercolored the images with Schminke watercolor paints and then cut them out with an X-Acto craft knife and adhered them to the side of the card with Joy! Craft foam tabs

Using the masking technique, I stamped the image twice with Gold Encore ink on the center of a panel I hand embossed using the EH 1824 Open Passe Stencil.  I sprinkled the Gold Encore ink with Ranger Fine Embossing Powder. I heat set the powder using a Milwaukee heating tool.  I then stamped the image again using the same technique and watercolored all three images.  I cut out the third image with an X-Acto craft knife and adhered it to the lower portion of the panel using Joy! Craft foam pads.  As you can see in this picture, both panels were placed on Joy! Craft foam pads as well and then placed on the Dark Purple embossing paper.  Using the Schminke paints I mixed a color to match the Silver Gray embossing paper and painted the background on the focal panel surrounding the flowers.  I cut the panel out with the X-Act craft knife and used an 18Kt. Gold Krylon pen and traced around the edges of both panels, as well as the Dark Purple layer.  Once the design was put together, I punched the tiny butterflies with a Fancy Crafts Twin Punch and placed them randomly on the side flower panel as well as the focal panel.  This card design is rich in color and in texture.  It’s a lovely card and very versatile; it could be given for a birthday, Mother’s Day, Sympathy, Thank You, maybe a special friend who’s going through a rough spot.  It’s sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Beautiful as usual Jeri….and I see you have discovered luxurious Schminke watercolour….it takes the Germans to come up with something so good….they also make watercolours especially for calligraphy and they are good as well.

I will try this on my parchment like paper and see how it looks. Need a very special card for a 70 year old this week so you’ve given me inspiration. Thanks again for inspiration and for all your beautiful creations.
