Father’s Day Card

Hi Girls, I have a Father’s Day card I made for my dad to share with you.  I’ll be traveling up to spend the day with him today; he and my mom live three hours north of me.  I also made cards for my hubby, brother, and two nephews.  This year I went tropical with SU’s retired Balmy Breezes.  To make it simple (mainly, I ran out of time), I stayed with the same design for all the cards and changed the charms.  I used pineapple, seahorse and palm tree charms on the window shades.

I was blog surfing the other day when I came across this totally adorable card designed by the super talented Amy Sheffer of Pickled Paper Designs.  I love Amy’s card and thought her sketch would be perfect for the stamp I chose to use.  I redesigned the window shade to match one I have in my home.  I used K & Co Blue Awning DP, which I think is perfect for masculine cards (and it’s a perfect color match for my banana leaves).

I embossed leaves that I punched from a MS leaf punch to resemble banana leaves.  I matched the brown with a Tommy Bahama tropical fan that I have in my Florida room.  I love the rich tobacco brown color I achieved.  The seahorse charms were were used on my nephews’ cards.

The palm tree charms were placed on my hubby and brother’s cards. Tim Holtz distress inks, PergaKit3D, Perga Glue and Zip Dry adhesives were used throughout the project.

The leaf spray is on the left side, I reversed them on some of the cards.  Embossing paper was used for the background papers and leaves.  I grouped a bunch of leaves together and embellished the leaf spray with linen thread and a small flower that I made with the smallest of the Dahlia nestie dies.  The stamens were made by clipping cardstock with paper snips into tiny strips and then rolling into a cylinder.  SU markers were used DTR on the stamps.  A Really Rust marker was used to color the stamens to match ink on the stamped image.

That’s it for today.  Wishing you all a wonderful Father’s day with your familes!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

How perfectly lovely Jerri!!! My first thought was that I was in a very expensive hotel room in the tropics…looking out of my window at the beautiful view!! I am quite certain that your dad will be pleased with this masterpiece…I would frame it, or put it under a glass dome…thanks for sharing with us!!

BTW…I received all of my goodies last week…just haven’t had the time to dig in and play…it was like Christmas opening up that envelope with so many fun things to look at…and dream 🙂

What a beautiful card Jerri. It would be a nice one to frame, with out glass, so the parts of it could still stand out (not be flattened) for all to admire in a special room. So precious and not to be discarded.

OK, what’s next? A set or was this one an individual creation. I can’t wait to see the upcoming surprises you have in store for all of us in this hugh internet world!

Have a good week of designing.
