Welcome to Fall – Napkin Holder

I love dressing up the table with “pretties” and this Fall is no exception.  I selected deep, rich Fall colors for this series and couldn’t be more pleased with their vibrancy! Today I have a napkin holder to share with you. It’s my hope that these designs inspire you to create “pretties” for your holiday table, Fall cards, or just get you excited about the upcoming season!

I’ve brought in JustRite’s Autumn Blessings stamp set to stamp the sentiment “Give Thanks for Simple Blessings.”  This set is timeless and one of my favorites, a definite “go to” and “must have” set for me.

Several Spellbinders’ dies were used in this design:  Mega Ovals, Blossom 2 (small white flowers), Assorted Leaves and Daisy Heads (mums).  It’s so easy to create gorgeous flowers with these versatile dies.  I love the challenge of sitting down and playing with them, together with my embossing pad and embossing tools, to see what I can come up with.

With the flowers pre-made, it quite honestly took me about 30 minutes to make this napkin holder.  I enforced the oval panel making it sturdy enought to hold the weight of the flowers by including a 6 ply white poster board oval between two ovals cut from the Olive embossing paper.  I adhered the 1/4″ silk ribbons in the oval sandwich to tie around the napkin.  I used 1/8″ olive May Arts silk ribbon for the bow.  Using the Bow Easy makes bows easy for me.  Throughout this series I made multiple looped, loose bows, all crinkly, love that “crinkle” effect!  The Bow Easy and silk ribbons were purchased from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

The sentiment was stamped on using the Essential Glue Pad and pounced with Pearl Ex powders.  While Versamark is a product I love, it requires spraying a sealant.  With the Essential Glue Pad, I simply stamp the image, apply the Pearl Ex with a large dauber by pouncing over the stamped image.  The adhesive grabs the powder giving full coverage and it’s permanent, no need for a sealant.  A Swifter dust rag was used to gently wipe away excess powder.

I randomly outlined the edges of a few petals with an 18Kt. Gold Krylon pen.  The flowers and leaves shimmer with the mixture of Pearl Ex and Gum Arabic that I painted on them.  You can see a bit of the gold shimmer on the lower petals of the largest mum.

Papers used for the napkin holder include:  Carnation White (white flowers), Moss Green (leaves), Olive (mega oval), Mustard (mum), Purple (mum and leaves), Violet (mum), Orange (leaves), and Nut Brown (leaves).  The leaves were embosed with Encore Gold ink and Ranger Gold Embossing powder.

Embossing pads and tools used for the leaves and flowers are:  Pergamano embossing pad, Pergamano embossing tools 3mm-large, 4.5mm-large, and 6mm-x-large. Darice embossing tools were used for the smaller flowers.  Please note:  PergaSoft is only used to emboss the card fronts that are hand embossed with the light box, not on the flowers or leaves.

Jeweled pearls were adhered around the oval panel and a brass butterfly was attached.  PergaGlue adhesive was used throughout the design.

A sweet little lady bug adds fun to the designs.  Black glass beads were adhered to the small flower centers.

This piece, which is the napkin holder, illustrates the “core” of the designs.  By changing the flowers up a bit, adding insects and changing the oval panel (sentiments/flourishes, Carnation White, Olive), I have altered each piece.  The panels were placed on the menu, a napkin, a wall hanging and at the base of a candlestick.  The place card was designed a bit different, but follows the overall theme.  The lamp shade is unique and fun, as well as functional.  A battery powered tea light produces a beautiful glow when the lights are dimmed, the Carnation White turns a beautiful Alabaster color.

If the weather is pleasant, I’m tempted to move my Thanksgiving dinner outside.

Shopping links have been provided throughout this post for your convenience in Olive Green.

Thank you so much for stopping in, I value each of you and truly appreciate you taking time from your busy day to stop by for a visit.  I’ll be back tomorrow with a another design in the Fall series.
