Stamp Simply Ribbon Inspiration – Checks Are In
I’m thrilled to be playing with the Stamp Simply girls again! Today we’re focusing on checks. I love pastel checks and chose to work with peach gingham in this design.
The peach checked background paper is from Graphic 45 – Once Upon A Springtime, as well as the fairy I incorporated into the card. Fairies are always a hit with me, I love how she appears to be enchanted with the flowers. I’ve nestled her amidst the baby’s breath. I added glitter to her wings, dress and flowers in her hair. Quickie glue pens are perfect for fine layers of glitter.
The larger flowers were made with Daisy Head dies, the smallest flowers were made with Blossom 2 dies, and the leaves were made with a die from the Sunflower 1 dies, all from Spellbinders. The white embossed and cut layer was created with the EH1814 Open Passe-Partout brass stencil.
To create a ruffled effect in the gingham ribbon, I baste stitched along the center of the ribbon and then gathered the ruffle. I adhered the flowers and leaves over the basting. I used a Sizzix leaf spray die to make the smaller leaves. The ribbon is placed over a border made with the Floral Doily Accents dies from Spellbinders. Kaiser pearls were used liberally on the flowers and border. A gingham ribbon tab was tucked in behind the flowers.
I used a craft knife to cut the openings in the white layer of paper after I embossed it. I ran the stencil through the Grand Caliber to emboss the white paper. Using a paper cutter I made a 1/2 inch border around the outer edges of the embossed image.
All layers and larger flowers and leaves were placed on 2mm foam tabs for added dimension to the design. I also placed the very bottom portion of the fairy on a 2mm foam tab. The flower petals were painted with a mixture of Gum Arabic and Pearl Ex powder. I used an 18kt Krylon pen around some of the edges of the flower petals. I included a cluster of Kaiser pearls inside the largest flower.

I Love how you used your fairy! I don’t use my fairy stamps very often because I haven’t figured out how to use them without being too child oriented in theme. This is it! This is the most mature, lol, fairy card I’ve seen and the look is perfect! The baby’s breath adds to her “magic” while she’s so focused on your beautiful flower. Wonderful work! We all are kind of saying the same thing…Wow! Your description of each element and how you did it really is so kind of you as sometimes its the little tricks of the trade that make a card stand out. You did it all here…the gold leafing pen around the edges of the largest flower is what had me wondering at first off in how you accomplished the look. Jerri, this card is just wonderful. Your love of the art of card making is so very evident and we all benefit from it. Thank you.
